 | | | General information While working on this site, we were inspired by the beauty of a unique place on earth – the Cape Kazantip (Crimea, Ukraine). The authors are familiar with its beauty for more than 10 years. Recently, when there are less and less natural landscapes left virgin, the protection of nature assumes ever greater importance.
This site contains general information about the Kazantip Nature Reserve (in section "О заповеднике"),about its flora (in section "флора"), fauna (in section "Фауна") and also the description of travel on the coast of the peninsula (in section "Путешествие по Казантипу"). The photograph album can help you to see animals (in section "Фауна") and plants (in section "Флора") of Kazantip and take a virtual walk around the cape including all bays (in section "Путешествие по Казантипу").
On May, 12th, 1998 according to the Decree of the President of Ukraine from 12.05.98 № 458/98 the Kazantip Nature Reserve was founded. The Cape Kazantip is the only one in Ukraine ancient mineral reef. The natural sculptors - wind and a waves - have been creating the quaint contours of this coast for thousands of years. You can see everything there: stone chaos, strange prehistoric animals, human figures; The Cape Kazantip remains a virgin landscape of the Azov seacoast. The flora and fauna of the reserve are also particularly interesting. Here grow sixteen kinds of rare and protected plants (13 of them are listed in the Red book of Ukraine and 4 kinds are listed in the Red book of Europe), seventeen kinds of animals are listed in the Red book of Ukraine. The territory of the reserve abounds with archaeological and ethnic monuments of different epochs and people. In the environs of Kazantip Nature Reserve there are ancient places of power, life-giving sources of energy. Above one of the bays scientists have found large antique settlement, dated ІІІ century B.C., and subterranean passage, leading to the seacoast.
According to UNESCO the Cape Kazantip is a reserve of international significance.
